Concealed Carry Handgun Course

Thank you for your interest in the North Carolina Concealed Carry Handgun Course. In today’s world the police can’t always be there to protect you. After taking this course you’ll leave with a good working knowledge of the laws governing the use of deadly force and the skills necessary to protect yourself and your loved ones.

This course is for North Carolinians, age 21+. (Note: We have this age requirement on our class because you have to be 21+ to apply for the permit with your local Sheriff’s office and to be able to purchase a handgun and handgun ammunition.)

Topics Discussed

  • Legal Issues
  • Handgun Safety
  • Handguns
  • Marksmanship Fundamentals
  • Carry Concealed safety Issues
  • Cleaning and Maintenance
  • Ammunition
  • Proficiency Drills

Class Itinerary:

Class starts at 9am until 6pm, with breaks and 1 hour lunch.

Classroom instruction, lectures, demonstrations, video and PowerPoint presentations. Multiple choice/true false exam. Bring pen/pencil and notepad.

There will be regular breaks and a one hour lunch period. Burgaw, NC is 12 minutes east with several food options. Wallace, NC is 15 minutes west, also with many food options.

Please bring a photo I.D. or a driver’s license. If you are military then your military I.D. will be sufficient.

IF YOU BRING YOUR FIREARM IN THE CLASSROOM, MAKE SURE IT IS UNLOADED! PLEASE LEAVE AMMUNITION IN VEHICLE!

Shooting Proficiency: Bring 50 rounds of ammunition, minimum, for your handgun. You will shoot 20 rounds from the 3 and 5 yard lines, and 10 rounds from the 7 yard line. The shooting is not that difficult. If you have difficulty, we will work with you one on one.

If you don’t have a handgun just let us know on the morning of class.  We take care of the gun rentals on the day of class.

***Due to the demand and the lack of availability of ammunition, (it is hard to find ammunition across the country) we are allowing students to use a .22 caliber handgun for the course during these times. We do not recommend a .22 caliber as a defensive round.***

You will also need eye and ear protection. We sell ear plugs & safety glasses. Prescription glasses or sunglasses will be fine.

Dress comfortably, we recommend no lowcut shirts and no open-toed shoes. Also bring rain gear just in case. We will still shoot in the rain unless it is severe.

The classroom and outdoor range are all in one location, 510 Van Eden Rd, Watha NC 28478.

Note: Some types of ammunition are in short supply! Please don’t wait until the last minute to obtain your ammunition.

Always remember, in a stressful situation you will default to your level of training. To increase your confidence and ability to shoot in a real life situation where deadly force is necessary, we highly recommend that a shooter with little or no experience get the additional training needed in addition to your concealed carry course. We offer Handgun Basics and Defensive Pistol classes too!

Cost: $60.00 This includes instruction, NCDOJ Red Book, targets and range fees.

THIS PERMIT IS GOOD IN 36 STATES!
